Southerners ‘losing appetite’ to be in same nation with Buhari, El-Rufai – Omokri

A former presidential aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has opined that Southerners are gradually losing appetite residing in same Nigeria with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), and Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.

Omokri made this know in a thread on his verified Twitter handle, in the early hours of Friday, while addressing the issue of the infamous herdsmen who have been accused of killings and kidnappings across the country.

Recall that the rights activist on Thursday announced that some herdsmen kidnapped and killed his personal assistant’s uncle, Prince Eloniyo Dennis Abuda, despite collecting the sum of ₦14 million as ransom.

Speaking further, Omokri opined that the herdsmen will not stop the unjust killing except Buhari loses his position as the President of Nigeria.

However, in the recent tweet, Omokri stated that:

“The argument by the Northern elite that herdsmen are also killing them does not hold water. It is their own brothers and sisters that are killing them in the North. Not Southerners. They are doing these because the Northern elite flatly refused to educate their people for years!

“Some of our brothers up North are unaware that Southerners are gradually losing some of their appetite to be in the same nation with those who think like @MBuhari, @elrufai and the Northern Elders Forum and ACF. We want unity, but not unity at the cost of being killed by herdsmen

“Let me put it this way. If Yoruba or Igbo traders were going about killing Northerners, and out of frustration with government’s inability to apprehend the killers, Northerners tried to regulate them, would @MBuhari and @elrufai threaten to arrest the beleaguered Northerners?

“El-Rufai warned about reprisals in the North over Igboho’s quit notice. Considering that everyday herdsmen kill tens of Southerners, who should be talking about reprisals? Is it @elrufai, or Southerners? Do people like El-Rufai think before they talk? Imagine the insensitivity!

“The unity of a nation is founded on justice. Without justice, there is no unity. Justice is missing in Nigeria. @MBuhari, who did not arrest Igbo Quit Givers, wants to arrest Igboho. He is not outraged when herdsmen kill, but he is outraged when host communities give quit notice.”
