Sokoto extends Eid-el-Fitr holiday to Friday

Sokoto state government has declared Friday, April 12, a work-free day for its citizens.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Bawa, and shared with journalists on Thursday.

The statement explained that the extension of the public holiday was to allow civil servants to continue celebrating Eid-el-Fitr with their families.

“This decision is to give civil servants in the state the chance to spend more time celebrating Eid-el-Fitr with their loved ones.

“Governor Ahmed Aliyu sends his best wishes to the people of Sokoto State for a joyous Sallah celebration,” the statement conveyed.

Earlier, the Katsina State Government had also declared Friday, April 12, 2024, a work-free day in the state.

The announcement, signed by the state governor, Dikko Radda, and shared by the state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Bala Zango, emphasized the importance of allowing state workers to actively participate in the Sallah festivities with their families.

This extension of the holiday aligns with the Federal Government’s decision to extend the Eid-el-Fitr public holidays to Thursday, April 11.
