Serena Williams decries Royal Family’s treatment of Meghan Markle

Tennis star, Serena Williams has criticised the treatment of Meghan Markle, wife of the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry.

Markle shocked the media with allegations of racism against the Queen and the Royal Family during an interview with Oprah Winfrey on Sunday night.

The Duchess of Sussex who is pregnant with her second child alleged that her son Archie, now aged one, had been denied the title of prince because there were concerns within the royal family about how dark his skin might be.

She also accused the family of lying, adding that she is pushed to the brink of suicide.

Reacting to the revelation on Monday, the 23-time Grand Slam winner released an emotional statement on her verified Twitter handle to show support for Markle, describing Markle’s treatment by the Royal Family as painful and cruel.

“Meghan Markle, my selfless friend, lives her life – and leads by example- with empathy and compassion. She teaches me every day what it means to be truly noble. Her words illustrate the pain and cruelty she’s experienced.
