A 38-year-old Serbian national has been remanded in custody after facing multiple drug-related charges following a motorcycle accident in Mosta, during which police discovered several suspected illegal substances hidden in the vehicle.
Milos Miletic, who lives in St Paul’s Bay, appeared before the court charged with aggravated possession of cannabis, ketamine, cocaine, MDMA and another psychotropic substance. He also faces charges of driving without insurance and reckless driving.
The case relates to a motorcycle crash on 29 September, following which police arrested a man suspected of involvement in drug trafficking, as previously reported by MaltaToday.
The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in the collision. However, his condition later improved, enabling the authorities to proceed with his arrest.
Police investigations conducted on the day of the accident led to the discovery of suspected cocaine, cannabis, MDMA and ketamine concealed in a compartment within the motorcycle.
Miletic pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
During the court proceedings, the defence asked that he be given appropriate medical attention due to the injuries he suffered in the crash. The court recommended that the necessary medical treatment be provided.
No bail application was submitted, and the accused was ordered to remain in custody pending further proceedings.
The court also approved a request for a freezing order.
Police inspectors Jonathan Pace and Nathan Bugeja led the prosecution alongside Attorney General lawyer Maria Francesca Spiteri. Lawyer Mark Mifsud Cutajar represented Miletic.
The arraignment was presided over by Magistrate Lara Lanfranco.
