The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, on Wednesday, received a delegation from states in the North East, led by Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State, at the National Assembly.

This was made known in the pictures shared on the official Twitter handle of Rt Hon Yakubu Dogara ‏@YakubDogara some hours ago.

Speaking during the visit, Governor Shettima said the delegation from states in the North East, paid members of the National Assembly a thank you visit for passing the North East Development Commission, NEDC Bill.

The Speaker who commended the appreciation urged Nigerians to support the establishment of the proposed NEDC Bill, assuring that mechanisms would be put in place to ensure that it is not mismanaged.

He said the established commission would be carefully monitored for it to fulfill its purpose of restoration, rehabilitation and development of the Northern region.

Speaker Dogara expressed optimism that President Muhammadu Buhari would assent to the bill and urged the leaders, elders and other stakeholders to continue to advocate for the establishment of the commission.
