The self-acclaimed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services following his arrest by the Federal Government.
WuzupNigeria reported on Tuesday that the IPOB leader was arraigned before a Federal High Court in Abuja who ordered his detention at the DSS facility pending the outcome of his trial.
Kanu was rearrested after jumping bail while being tried for a treasonable felony in 2017 and was declared wanted thereafter.
While the details of his arrest are yet to be made public by the government, WuzupNigeria reports that Kanu who has been an avid user of social media, especially Twitter has gone AWOL since his arrest.
He last tweeted on the 28th of June and has not been active on Twitter since, leading to the news of his arrest on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, during the arraignment on Tuesday, Justice Binta Nyako ordered the DSS to inform Kanu’s lawyers of his detention and adjourned the case to July 26, 2021.
