#SanwoMustGo: Nigerians on Twitter demand Sanwo-Olu’s resignation
In the wake of the violence ongoing in Lagos State, Nigerians have taken to Twitter to call for the resignation of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
This comes after a number of unarmed #EndSARS protesters were attacked by security operatives in military uniform at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos on Tuesday night.
While there were reports of about eight deaths and scores of injured protesters, the governor in a live address on Wednesday denied the reports that any life was lost as a result of the attack by soldiers.
He earlier blamed forces beyond his control for the shotting at Lekki in a tweet in the early hours of Wednesday.
“This is the toughest night of our lives as forces beyond our direct control have moved to make dark notes in our history, but we will face it and come out stronger.
“I’ve just concluded visits to hospitals with victims of this unfortunate shooting incident at Lekki,” he said.
Reacting to the unrest across the state, Nigerians appeared to have run out of patience with the government of Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Here are some tweets below:
Sanwo-Olu has to go . He has to resign. The effrontery of him to lie on the dead. The effrontery of him to try playing on our intelligence. The effrontery of him to dismiss the lives lost for our country . He is not fit to be our governor. #SanwoMustGo #EndSARS #LekkiMassacre

Exactly…!!!@jidesanwoolu ,I personally thought you would prove ambode @AkinwunmiAmbode wrong, but here you are showing the incapacity to do what you have been propelled to do…
If you resign, it would be the most heroic thing done at this time… https://t.co/NaI0tBpTS2
