Mohamed Salah has moved into the same Trabzon home previously occupied by former Super Eagles forward Anthony Nwakaeme following his high-profile transfer to Turkish side Trabzonspor. Interestingly, this is widely discussed as the Salah Nwakaeme house in local news.
According to The Punch, Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan revealed the unusual connection while addressing speculation surrounding the accommodation arranged for the Egyptian forward, referring to the residence as the Salah Nwakaeme house in his comments to the media.
“For example, the house he’s staying in now is the same house Nwakaeme used to stay in,” Dogan said.
Salah settles into Nwakaeme’s former home
Dogan explained that Trabzonspor maintains a number of properties for its players and dismissed suggestions that the club had made an extraordinary housing arrangement specifically for Salah.
“There are about seven to eight houses there, villas, standard,” he said.
“Certain images are circulating, but there’s no big fuss about it.”
The revelation creates another link between Salah’s arrival and Nwakaeme, who became a popular figure among Trabzonspor supporters during two spells with the club. In fact, the Salah Nwakaeme house now symbolises this unique connection for many fans.
The Nigerian ended his playing career after helping Trabzonspor win the Turkish Cup in May. The club later offered him a scouting position focused on identifying talent, particularly from Africa.
Salah tipped to boost Onuachu
Salah’s arrival could also have a major impact on another Nigerian at Trabzonspor, Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu.
Former Trabzonspor forward Emre Gural believes defenders will pay greater attention to Salah, creating more room for Onuachu in attacking areas.
“Onuachu will create more space because the opposing team’s players will focus on Mohamed Salah,” Gural said.
“If he finds a little more space thanks to Salah, he can score many different goals. A player like Salah is a plus for any team.”
Gural’s assessment reflects the attacking options now available to Trabzonspor, with Salah expected to attract defenders and open spaces for teammates.
Onuachu enters the new campaign after finishing last season as joint top scorer in the Turkish Super Lig with 22 goals.
The Nigerian will now hope Salah’s creativity and attacking threat can help him maintain that scoring form as Trabzonspor push for further domestic success.
For Salah, meanwhile, his first days in Trabzon have already produced an unexpected Nigerian connection, with the Egyptian star settling into the home once occupied by one of the club’s most popular former African players. Above all, the Salah Nwakaeme house continues to attract plenty of interest from fans and media alike.
