The management of renowned Fuji artist Saheed Osupa has confirmed that the legal action previously instituted against Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been officially withdrawn.
This decision, according to Osupa’s team, was made at the personal request of the singer himself.
The legal proceedings were originally initiated by Osupa’s management in response to what they described as a serious breach of intellectual property rights, alongside repeated acts of defamation and public misconduct attributed to Portable. However, the move was reportedly never intended as a personal attack, but rather an effort to establish a standard of accountability within the entertainment industry, particularly among rising talents.
In a statement, Osupa’s camp clarified that several notable figures intervened in the matter, urging for a peaceful resolution. Among them were Alhaji Ahmad Lawal, CEO of Lahmad Concepts, Saheed Ibile of Harmony Holdings Ltd, Alhaji Fatai Lajero representing the Olufimo Royal Parliament, and Alhaji Waheed Ogunsesan, President of the Olufimo Fans Club. Their appeals, coupled with concerns over Portable’s inability to meet bail conditions, reportedly moved Osupa to act with compassion.
“Please note that this decision is driven by compassion and the hope that this moment will serve as a turning point in Portable’s life and career, as Osupa believes that while accountability is essential, mercy, too, is a pillar of leadership. He hopes that Portable will seize this opportunity for reflection, growth, and transformation,” Osupa’s team highlighted.
Nevertheless, Osupa’s team laid out specific conditions tied to the case withdrawal. Portable is expected to:
Retract his statement implying that Saheed Osupa should be held responsible if anything happens to him.
Confess to the falsehood of his lawyer Chief Bar. Isaac Adebayo’s public claim that Portable held Osupa’s leg while begging for forgiveness — an encounter Osupa denies ever occurred.
Sign an undertaking to cease all forms of cyberbullying, defamation, and character assassination moving forward.
The team concluded by warning that “if these conditions are not met, the case may be reinstated.”
