Saheed Osupa mourns as veteran Fuji Iyanda Sawaba dies at 70

Popular Fuji Music star, Saheed Osupa, has mouned veteran singer, Alhaji Iyanda Isiaka Sawaba.

The ‘Pata Olokun’ crooner reportedly passed at the age of 70 after suffering a partial stroke at UCH, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Politics Nigeria reported that the Fuji icon was admitted into UCH’s Intensive Care Unit and was placed on oxygen after collapsing on his way back from a party two weeks ago.

Reacting to the news, Osupa shared a condolence message with his 557 thousand Instagram followers on Wednesday.

“The news of your death came to me as a shock, it is an irreparable loss to Fuji music, however, no one can stop anyone’s journey to the great beyond when time ripens. RIP Alhaji Iyanda Sawaba Ewenla,” he wrote.

Osupa also shared a video of himself and Sawaba during an occasion they attended before his death.

Born in Ghana on 11 November 1951, Sawaba reportedly dropped more than twenty-two albums including Suru, Igbo Odaju, Pata Olokun, Ayetoto and Oroseniwo among others from the stable of old Adetunji Records (Babalaje Records) owned by the present Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso 1.
