Sacked ex-Ganduje aide Yakasai calls for open grazing ban

Yakasai anti-open grazing herdsmen

A former aide to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, on Tuesday called for the ban of open grazing in Nigeria.

His statement was a reaction to the viral video of an Ogun State woman showing evidence of how some herd of cows was captured feasting on her vegetables.

Reacting to the video, Yakasai who is out of the country, condemned the act of the herdsmen and deemed it unacceptable.

“This is totally unacceptable and stands condemned. Open grazing is no longer attainable and should be stopped immediately.

“This is the root cause of the farmers/herders crises in this country & only God knows what it will lead to if allowed to continue. This should be BANNED,” he tweeted.

Recall that Yakasai ran into trouble recently for criticizing the President, Major general Muhammadu Buhari (retd) following the heightened insecurity in the north and the inexplicable abduction of over 300 schoolgirls by bandits from a school in Jabgebe, Zamfara State.

The scathing remarks cost him his job.

Shortly after the termination of his appointment was announced, he was picked up and detained by the Department for State Security on Friday, 26th February for the same offense.

Yakasai has since left the country on the 17th of March, barely a month after he was released.
