The Nigerian jersey has been voted the best out of the 32 countries participating in FIFA world cup in Russia.
The jerseyย emerged the best after it gotย over 40,000 votesย in a poll carried out byย Sky Sports, leaving world champions Germany in the second place with 21,000 votes.
The Super Eagles kits for the 2018 World Cup was unveiled in London on February 7, 2018, byย the Nigeria Football Federation and Nike, its official kits sponsor.
Nike said,
โWith a culture as vibrant as Nigeriaโs, the collection had a lot to live up to.
โThe central design theme is an abstract feather pattern inspired by the teamโs โSuper Eaglesโ nickname.
“Last seen during Nigeriaโs 1994 appearance on the world stage, the design has been enlivened to capture the energy of the 2018 team.โย ย
The jersey pays a subtle homage to the country’s โ94 shirt’, worn by Nigeriaโs first team to qualify. It also has a similar badge modelled after the 1996 gold medal-winning Dream Team while honouring the 1994 shirt won by the national team.
Nikeโs Football Design Director, Dan Farron, said during the designing, the aim was to tap into the attitude of the nation while keeping in mind the full identities of players.
Farron revealed that demand for the jersey had reached over three million worldwide before it officially hit the shelves last week.
