Roma thrash Empoli 7-0 with Dybala and Lukaku shining

Roma thrashed newly promoted Empoli 7-0 in Serie A on Sunday, with Paulo Dybala and Romelu Lukaku scoring twice each in their first match together.

Dybala opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the second minute, and Renato Sanches doubled Roma’s lead six minutes later with a header.

Grassi deflected Bryan Cristante strike into the goal in the 38th minute to make it 3-0 and Dybala added his second goal of the game in the 55th minute.

Cristante added his goal in the 80th minute, and Andrea Belotti set up both Lukaku’s goal in the 82nd minute and Gianluca Mancini’s goal in the 89th minute.

The win was Roma’s first of the season, and it moved them up to fourth place in the Serie A table. Empoli, meanwhile, remained at the bottom of the table without a point.

Dybala and Lukaku looked like a dangerous partnership in their first match together, and their goalscoring prowess will be key to Roma’s success this season.
