Ribadu inaugurates Enugu EFCC zonal headquarters

The National Security Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nuhu Ribadu, officially inaugurated the new Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Zonal Headquarters in Enugu. 

During the inauguration, Ribadu reiterated the administration’s commitment to recovery, improvement, and effective governance.

In his address, Ribadu emphasized the importance of the EFCC’s role in fighting corruption, money laundering, terrorism, and banditry. 

He urged the commission not to relent in its efforts, highlighting that criminal activities are often linked to financial motives. 

Speaking further, he encouraged the EFCC to focus on going after the money, asserting that addressing financial crimes is crucial for attracting foreign direct investments and fostering economic growth.

“What is the motivation most of it is money, if you see bandits, operating, terrorists, kidnapping, all are because of money, go after the money, because EFCC is in front of the task of going after the money, you are fighting the crime itself.

“Today, this government is looking for foreign direct investments, In Nigeria, no one is going to answer unless thingd are done correctly, unless they are protected, unless their investment will be protected. To do business, make money and take it back home, that’s what matters when we talk of Fighting corruption, it matters unless you address it”. he Charged.

The security Adviser to the president believed those who are charged with the responsibilities must be the country’s best.

” People of integrity, honestly, people who are going to be just, patriotic, they themselves must purge themselves of the ailments they are supposed to fight.

‘we believe there is no room for corrupt EFCC officer or a Policeman or a custom officer, we are urging them to be the best that you can best, be the best Nigerian, through you Nigeria will change,” he said.

Ribadu called for individuals in positions of responsibility, including EFCC officers, to exhibit integrity, honesty, and patriotism. He emphasized that there is no room for corruption within the EFCC or other law enforcement agencies. Ribadu commended Governor Peter Mbah’s administration for its efforts in combating insecurity in Enugu, noting positive changes in the region.

Expressing gratitude for the leadership in the South East and the engagement of the Federal Government, Ribadu encouraged Nigerians to be the best citizens they can be, promoting fairness, justice, and a sense of belonging.
