Residents foil kidnap attempt in Kano, hand over suspects to police
Two suspected kidnappers were on Wednesday nabbed by the residents of Ungwar Yamadawa at Dorayi Baba quarters in Kano metropolis, Kano State.
WUZUPNIGERIA gathered that the duo had infiltrated the area and attempted to kidnap a resident who was accessing his garage on arriving at his home late Wednesday.
However, the victim fought them off and, in the ensuing scuffle, outsmarted the gunmen and escaped into the midst of some onlookers.
In an apparent attempt to escape, the gunmen were said to have fired several gunshots in the air to scare the people in the neighbourhood but the residents summoned courage, swooped on the suspected kidnappers and intercepted their getaway tricycle.
The apprehended gunmen have since been handed over to police who arrived in the area during the crisis.
The Public Relations Officer, Kano Police Command, DSP Haruna Abdullahi, confirmed the incident while also adding that investigation had commenced.
