Remove tithes, most people will shun ministry, says Reno Omokri

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has opined that many people go into ministry in Nigeria because of the tithes that worshippers pay.

Omokri disclosed this to his 879.4K followers on his verified Twitter account on Sunday, December 27, 2020.

The issue of tithe and ministry has been an age-long debate across the world, especially in Nigeria and the rights activist likened both to politics and money.

Omokri further opined that most people will shun ministry if worshippers stop paying tithes, just as many will run away from politics if there is no money involved.

“Just as money attracts people to politics, so do tithes attract people to ministry. Remove money and most persons will shun politics. Remove tithe and most persons will shun ministry. Their calling will enter voicemail. Tithes has no place in Christianity,” he said.

In a subsequent tweet, Omokri added that Christianity in Africa is indistinguishable from commerce and for worshippers to hear the truth about Christ, they must attend a place of worship where the pastor does not feed from the ministry.

“If you must hear the truth about Christ, Christianity and Scripture, attend a church where the pastor does not eat from ministry. I am compelled to say I am disgusted with what passes for Christianity in Africa. Often it is indistinguishable from commerce,” Omokri added.
