Real Madrid are facing renewed concerns over dressing room unrest. This follows reports that two players came to blows amid growing tensions within the Spanish club.
According to DailyMail, journalist Antón Meana revealed that the atmosphere among the players remains strained. This is despite José Mourinho’s return as manager during the summer.
Speaking on the El Larguero programme, Meana claimed Mourinho had struggled to restore unity within a squad. This squad experienced internal disagreements under former managers Xabi Alonso and Álvaro Arbeloa.
“The only problem is that I still see this dressing room as cold as it was five months ago,” Meana said.
He described the squad as difficult to manage, adding that two players had been involved in a physical confrontation.
However, the journalist did not identify the players or establish when the alleged incident occurred.
Real Madrid’s dressing room tensions
The latest claims come months after reports of a confrontation involving midfielders Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni in May.
Valverde acknowledged an argument at the time but denied that the disagreement had developed into a physical fight.
Mourinho’s return to the Santiago Bernabéu was expected to restore discipline after a turbulent period under the club’s previous managers.
However, reports suggest that the Portuguese coach has yet to resolve the underlying divisions within the squad.
The situation has also attracted attention amid discussions surrounding Kylian Mbappé’s conduct during his recent injury recovery.
Despite the controversy, Cadena SER reported that Mbappé had resumed training and was available for Saturday’s La Liga fixture against Villarreal.
Real Madrid face a demanding October schedule, including Champions League commitments and a league meeting with rivals Barcelona.
The club will be hoping to improve performances on the pitch while addressing concerns about unity within the dressing room.
Real Madrid have not publicly confirmed a new physical confrontation between players.
