Paris Saint-Germain will face Arsenal in the Champions League final after beating Bayern Munich over two legs, advancing with a 6-5 aggregate victory following a 1-1 draw in Munich on Wednesday.
Ousmane Dembele’s goal three minutes into the match put the visitors 1-0 up on the night and 6-4 ahead on aggregate. Bayern, who equalised late through Harry Kane, had been furious at a couple of refereeing decisions in the first half and bowed out at the semi-final stage.
PSG will defend their title as European champions in Budapest on May 30, where they will face Arsenal, who beat Atletico Madrid over two legs.
PSG captain Marquinhos was widely praised as man of the match for an outstanding defensive performance, repeatedly shutting down Bayern’s attacks.
Bayern did not hit their rhythm and were not as good as they were last week, but PSG’s complete performance when it mattered most was the difference.
Arsenal now face a very tough test against a PSG side described as a “devil of a team, outstanding in both directions.” The final is scheduled for May 30 in Budapest.
