A crowd of Ondo State residents, primarily from Ilaje, stormed the State House of Assembly on Tuesday in protest against an alleged plot to impeach Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

According to Daily Trust, the demonstrators carried placards with various inscriptions and blocked the entrance to the assembly, disrupting vehicular and human traffic.

Some of the placards read: “Justice For Lucky,” “Lucky Is Innocent,” “Stop Alleging Him Wrongly,” “Ilaje Nation Stands With Aiyedatiwa,” and “Aketi, Lucky Is Not Your Enemy,” among others.

The protesters strongly opposed the impeachment move, viewing it as a grave injustice to the Ilaje people, who predominantly hail from the state’s coastal areas.

Ola Juda, the spokesperson for the demonstrators, voiced their determination not to tolerate Aiyedatiwa’s impeachment.

Juda accused the lawmakers of neglecting their constitutional duties in favor of targeting the deputy governor, stating, “This is pure injustice against the deputy governor (Lucky Aiyedatiwa), and we will never accept this at all.”

The protest comes amid allegations of gross misconduct against the deputy governor.
