Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has claimed there is a conspiracy within the Nigerian music and Nollywood industries.

His remarks followed the outcome of the 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, where veteran Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta lost out in the Best Lead Actor category.

Chatta was nominated for his role in the film House of GAA but lost to Femi Adebayo, who starred in Seven Doors.

Portable, in a video shared on his Instagram page on Sunday, expressed disappointment over the result, alleging that Chatta is a victim of internal politics within the film industry.

Portable insisted that Chatta deserved the win and suggested that certain individuals are purchasing awards behind the scenes.

He said, “My fans, there is a gang up in the Nigerian entertainment industry, even in Nollywood. They didn’t give Ibrahim Chatta an award at the 11th AMVCA despite his impeccable acting. That was how I was also snubbed by The Headies Awards.

“We don’t need awards. We need food, we need money. We have money but we can’t use money to buy awards like some persons.

“Ibrahim Chatta, if they don’t award you, God will reward you. My boss, you are my mentor. I love you.”
