Political ‘Reggae blues’: Who remixed it better?
Nigeria’s political arena is always interesting. It features all the elements of everyday life and it does it well. Including ‘political reggae blues’.
Recently, a remix of Harry Song’s hit number, Reggae Blues took the political arena by storm, inspiring two remixes.
Zoo Music did the first remix, with the hook “after the reggae play the blues” substituted for “after election wey dem do”.
The song questioned the “change” slogan of the All Progressives Congress (APC) pointing to recent realities in to the tune of the hit number. Video was a mashup of clips from ape themed videos and different footage from news reports.
The second remix was a reply to Zoo Music’s work by Zoom Entertainment. It mocked the activities of the Goodluck Jonathan led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government which handed over to the President Muhammadu Buhari led APC in 2015.
In the reply, the hook was changed from “after the reggae play the blues” to “before elections wey dem lose”. The same pattern was followed in doing the video. A mashup of the ape-themed movie, still pictures and news clip footage was used.
Our question to you is, who remixed it better among the two?
