Policeman, five others arrested over kidnappings in Calabar
A serving policeman and five others have allegedly been arrested in connection with the recent spate of kidnappings in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
The policeman was picked up by ‘Operation Skolombo’ anti-crime squad in the city after at least five kidnap suspects who were arrested on Sunday allegedly implicated him.
It was gathered that the suspects and the policeman, who is said to reside at 8 Miles and owned some properties, are being held at Eburutu Barracks in Calabar.
When contacted about the alleged arrest of the policeman and other suspects in connection with recent kidnappings, the state Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo said,
“I am not aware. For now, I have not heard anything about that. I have to find out.”
She, however, admitted last week that there were cases of kidnappings.
