The Delta State Police Command has raided the hideouts of suspected kidnappers, recovering arms and ammunition while arresting a key suspect.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed this in a statement on Tuesday in Warri.

According to Edafe, operatives from the CP-Special Assignment Team, led by ASP Julius Robinson, tracked down a suspected kidnapper, Chedeye Mohammed, on March 26, 2025.

“The team traced the suspect to Rivers State, where he was eventually arrested. Upon interrogation, he led officers to a bush near a trailer park where weapons were hidden,” Edafe said.

The police recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with 13 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.

The police spokesperson revealed that the arrested suspect and his gang kidnapped people in Ughelli, Agbarho, and other parts of Delta State before hiding in Rivers State.

“Efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the gang,” Edafe added.

In a separate operation, the police arrested three suspected armed robbers and gunrunners in Kogi State.

The suspects, identified as Zakari Mohammed (31), Ibrahim Mumuni (29), and Mohammed Hamisu (25), were caught in Anyigba town, Dekina Local Government Area.

A search of their homes led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, an automatic pump-action gun, and a Beretta pistol with ammunition.
