The Kwara State Police Command has announced a massive deployment of personnel and operational assets across the state ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration to ensure residents’ safety and prevent security breaches during the festive period.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command’s spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, the command said extensive security measures had been put in place to guarantee peaceful celebrations across all parts of the state.
The statement noted that the police commissioner extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful in Kwara and beyond on the occasion of the 1447 AH Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
“As Muslim faithful observe this significant religious festival marked by Sacrifice, Obedience, and Devotion, the Command urges residents to celebrate peacefully, responsibly, and in accordance with the law,” the statement said.
The command disclosed that strategic deployments had been ordered across Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, highways, motor parks, critical national assets, and other vulnerable locations to forestall any breakdown of law and order during and after the celebrations.
“In line with the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, the Commissioner of Police has ordered a robust and strategic deployment of personnel and operational assets across the state to ensure a peaceful and incident-free Eid celebration,” the statement added.
According to the police, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, and other operational units have been directed to dominate public spaces before, during, and after the festivities through coordinated security operations.
The statement further explained that personnel from tactical and conventional units would conduct aggressive visibility policing, intelligence-driven surveillance, vehicular patrols, stop-and-search operations, crowd control, and other proactive crime-prevention activities aimed at curbing criminal activity across the state.
The command also warned residents against erecting tents, canopies, or any form of obstruction on public roads and highways, stressing that such acts pose security and traffic risks.

Residents were urged to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, obey traffic regulations, and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via the command’s emergency lines.
