Police bust six-man car snatching syndicate in Abuja
Police authorities in Abuja on Sunday paraded a six-man robbery gang specialised in cars in the Federal Capital Territory.
The operations of the syndicate were reportedly busted around Kubwa and Garki axis of the territory.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mariam Yusuf also disclosed on Sunday that all the suspects were arrested within last week.
Mariam stated that the suspects had confessed to being members of a notorious syndicate terrorising the FCT.
She added that three of the suspects were arrested during different coordinated intelligence operations by the Anti Car Theft Unit of the Command.
She further explained that the exhibits recovered from the suspects were two silver-coloured Toyota Corolla, two silver-coloured Toyota RAV4 and one black coloured Lexus.
In a similar manner, the News Agency of Nigeria reported that operatives from Kubwa Division apprehended a four-man robbery gang around the Kubwa Garden axis.
Mariam noted that the suspects were arrested after robbing their victims but added that one of the gang members sustained gunshot injuries in his bid to escape arrest.
Yusuf said the suspect with gunshot injuries was taken to the hospital where the doctor confirmed him dead while receiving treatment.
She revealed that other gang members had confessed that they were responsible for terrorising people in the Kubwa axis.
The PPRO explained that three machetes, one dagger, one cutter, two Laptops, nine mobile phones, two plasma TV and jewellery were recovered from the robbers.
She added that efforts were being heightened by the command to arrest the fleeing suspects.
Yusuf said the suspects would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
