Police arrest two with pistol, ammunition in Delta

Security operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested two people caught with a gun and live ammunition.

According to the PUNCH, a female suspect identified as Blessing Oghule was arrested with a pistol and five rounds of live ammunition.

Subsequently, a male suspected identified as Patrick Anthony, 36, was allegedly arrested in possession of 60 rounds of 7.62mm AK-47 live ammunition concealed in a pair of shoes.

On Oghule, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, said she was arrested last Thursday during a raid on black spots at Abraka in Asaba, the state capital.

He said, “During the raid, four suspects: Blessing Oghule, Nweke Abudi, Ebuka Paul, and Sunday Inuse were arrested.

“Items recovered from Oghule were a Berreta pistol with five live 9mm ammunition, five suspected stolen phones, one handbag containing weed suspected to be Indian hemp, 10 wraps of substances suspected to be cocaine, among others.”

On Anthony, the PPRO said that he was arrested by the Dragon Patrol Team who were on stop-and-search duty along Warri-Sapele Road by Mercy City, Effurun on October 21, 2021.

He said that the team intercepted one silver-coloured commuter Toyota Picnic bus moving from Warri to Sapele.

Upon searching the vehicle and its occupants, the stated ammunition was recovered from Anthony.
