Police arrest two suspects, recover pistols in Bayelsa
Operatives of the Bayelsa State Police Command have arrested two armed robbery suspects in the state.
A statement issued on Thursday by the spokesperson for the command, SP Asinim Butswat, named the suspects as Abraham Kalizibe and Abadi Promise.
Butswat said that two locally made pistols and five live cartridges were recovered from the suspects.
He said police detectives nabbed the 34-year-old Kalizibe following a tip-off by a community leader.
He said, “The suspect is a member of a notorious armed robbery gang terrorizing Yenagoa and its environs.
“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to series of armed operations and led police to the armed robbery gang’s armourer, one Abadi Promise ‘m’, 18 years, where two locally made pistols and five cartridges were recovered.”
He said the suspects were undergoing interrogation and would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
