Police arrest officer who shot movie director, Azeez Ijaduade

The police officer responsible for shooting movie director Azeez Ijaduade during a movie shoot at Napoli Hotel Iperu Remo, Ogun State, has been apprehended, and investigations are underway, according to the Ogun State Police Command.

The incident occurred on Saturday when Azeez Ijaduade was with the cast of a movie at Napoli Hotel Iperu Remo.

The manager of the hotel reported to the Divisional Police Officer that during Bramaj Company’s end-of-year party, a mobile policeman attached to a Chinese expatriate fired a shot into the air, and the ammunition shell hit Azeez Ijaduade in the neck.

The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, provided details on the incident.

She stated, “The Ogun State Police Command received a report of a shooting incident on the 23rd of December 2023 at about 11:24hrs from one Fakoya Adewale, Napoli Hotel manager in Iperu, where he reported to the Divisional Police Officer that during Bramaj Company’s end-of-year party in the hotel, a mobile Policeman attached to the Chinese expatriate expended a shot into the air, and unfortunately, the ammunition shell hit one Azeez Ijaduade, an actor, on the neck.”

Azeez Ijaduade was swiftly rushed to a hospital in Ilishan, and he is reported to be in stable condition.

The police officer involved in the shooting has been identified, and the Ogun State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the incident.

Odutola assured the public that updates on the investigation will be provided as it progresses.

She further confirmed that Azeez Ijaduade is currently in stable condition in the hospital, and the Commander Mopol 16 has taken responsibility for the medical bill.

The Commander has also been in contact with the actor and visited him in the hospital, where he is expected to be discharged soon.

“The actor speaking to the Commander Mopol 16 has confirmed that he is in stable condition; members of the public will be notified when he is discharged,” Odutola added.
