The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 52-year-old man, Harry Collins, for impersonating a police officer while wearing a full police uniform with a sergeant rank.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Saturday.
According to the statement, Collins was caught on February 20, 2025, around 2:10 pm during a patrol led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations at the Longbridge section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Odutola explained that officers became suspicious of Collins’ presence and immediately arrested him.
“Upon interrogation at the station, Collins was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for his impersonation, raising further suspicion about his activities,” Odutola said.
She added that investigations are ongoing to uncover his motives and any criminal actions linked to him.
“The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation. The Ogun State Police Command warns the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals posing as police officers,” she stated.
