Police arrest 19-year-old with pistol in Gombe
The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a 19 years old man who deals in locally made firearms in the state’s capital city.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Mary Malum, on Wednesday, in a statement, noted that the Gombe police division arrested the teenager based on credible evidence.
She said,
“19 years old Usman Ali, resident of Tudun Wada quarters of the metropolis was said to be in possession of a locally-made pistol this culminated into an eventual arrest of 64 years old Abubakar Umar, who resided in Nasarawo quarters of Gombe metropolis.
“Upon interrogation, Usman Ali, the suspect claimed that he bought the said gun from 64 years old Abubakar Umar of Nasarawo quarters, Gombe. He was traced to his workshop where Dane-gun, locally made pistols and other fabricated items were recovered from him.”
Malum further revealed that the suspect had been in the business of selling illegal weapons to men of the underworld for more than five years.
She stressed the call by the Commissioner of Police, Bello Makwashi, for more collaborative efforts in fighting crimes in the state adding that the command is ever committed and dedicated to discharging its constitutional duties in the state.
