Plateau police arrest man for killing father

The Plateau State Police Command has detained a 29-year-old man identified as Joseph Yakubu, who is accused of fatally assaulting his father, Yakubu Dalyop. The alleged assault involved hitting his father on the head with a pestle.

Commissioner of Police, Hassan Steve Yabanet, disclosed the details during a parade of the suspect at the state police command headquarters.

He revealed that the altercation leading to the assault unfolded when the father quarreled with Joseph, who impulsively used a pestle to strike his father on the head.

The incident took place on February 15 at Kambel, Anglo-Jos. A concerned neighbor reported the occurrence to the Anglo-Jos division on February 20, after the victim succumbed to his injuries at the Plateau State Specialist Hospital, where he was receiving medical care.

Yabanet stated, “The suspect had been arrested while the corpse was deposited at the hospital mortuary.”

He added that upon the conclusion of the investigation, the suspect would face legal charges in court.
