PHOTOS: Stranded travelers trek as protesters block Lagos-Benin Expressway

Travelers commuting the Lagos-Benin Expressway were forced to trek their way through the long road on Friday as #ENDBADGOVERNANCE protesters blocked a section of the highway.

Photos from the scene of the protest were made available to our correspondent on Friday.

A protester who chose to remain anonymous over fear of intimidation shared photos of the roadblock and commuters trekking with our correspondent.

“I trekked from Bypass to Ugbowo. They didn’t allow cars or bike to pass,” one of the commuters said.

The protest, which began on August 1st across different states in Nigeria, has been faced by different irregularities.

WuzupNigeria reported that the hunger protest which started across the country has been marred by bloodshed, violence, and looting in Abuja, Borno, Kebbi States, amongst others.

Some protesters were allegedly killed in Kastina on Thursday during the heat of the protest and states like Nasarawa, Borno have declared 24 hours curfew.

Also, some hoodlums in Kano looted the yet to be inaugurated NCC centre in Kano carting away valuables from the centre.
