PHOTOS: Gospel singer Muyiwa Olarewaju receives OBE medal from Prince Williams
British-Nigerian gospel artist, Muyiwa Olarewaju, has received the medal for the Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
Olarewaju who is of Nigerian descent was awarded by the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, during an investiture ceremony held at Windsor Castle.
The singer shared photographs of the medal presentation with his Instagram page on Friday.
Speaking with his 36 thousand followers, Olarewaju shared how his lecturer once told him no one is paying attention to his gospel genre of music.
However, the recognition by the British crown appears to prove the unnamed individual wrong.
“For Services To Music. Thank you to everyone that has relentlessly invested in this “young man”, you made it possible.
“A lecturer of mine told me no one is paying attention to you doing gospel music. Years later, here we are,” he wrote.
