Former Nigerian presidential candidate, Peter Obi, attended the book launch of renowned writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, in London for her new novel, “Dream Count.”

The event, held at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, drew about 3,000 attendees and featured a conversation between Adichie and journalist Elizabeth Day.

Peter Obi, sharing his experience on social media, revealed that he had traveled to the United Kingdom on Sunday, March 2, and first visited Cambridge for meetings with development experts before attending the book launch in London.

Speaking about his journey, Obi said, “I arrived in London, United Kingdom safely on Sunday, the 2nd of March morning for a busy schedule. I made the trip via Air Peace business class, as is my policy when embarking on long-haul flights, particularly when I have to start work immediately upon arrival.”

He explained that his discussions in Cambridge focused on finding solutions to Nigeria’s challenges.

“Our discussions centred on suggested solutions to challenges confronting our nation,” he added.

Reflecting on the book launch, Obi praised Chimamanda’s literary talent and connected her work to the broader need for Nigeria’s development.

“The event was not only a celebration of literary excellence but, more importantly, a testament to the immense potential our beloved nation holds if we invest in the most critical measures of development reflected in the Human Development Index (HDI): education, healthcare, and lifting people out of poverty,” Obi said.

He also expressed hope for Nigeria’s future, stating, “Coupled with my earlier discussions on turning around our struggling nation and the exhilarating performance by Chimamanda, I am convinced that with the energy and brilliance of our youth, a collective commitment, and guidance through good governance, the dream of a better Nigeria is within reach.”

Peter Obi’s attendance at the book launch highlighted his continued focus on promoting education and development in Nigeria.
