Peseiro, Omeruo back Uzoho amid criticism

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, and stand-in captain, Kenneth Omeruo, have expressed unwavering support for goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, despite recent criticism surrounding his performances.
Uzoho has faced scrutiny for his errors in goal, with some calling for his replacement. However, both Peseiro and Omeruo have reaffirmed their belief in Uzoho’s abilities, emphasizing that he remains the team’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Peseiro acknowledged the presence of other talented goalkeepers in the squad, but insisted that he will only select the player he believes offers the best option between the posts.
He stated, “Uzoho is our goalkeeper. Okoye, Ojo, Amas, and Adeleye are also our goalkeepers. I am not stupid. I want to play the best players, but it is my decision.“
Omeruo echoed Peseiro’s sentiments, declaring, “Uzoho is the best goalkeeper in the team, and we are behind him.“
Nigeria’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe will provide Uzoho with an opportunity to silence his critics and reaffirm his position as the team’s undisputed number one goalkeeper.
