Pastor William F. Kumuyi, founder of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry in Lagos, Nigeria, led prayers during the Inaugural Prayer and Praise Meeting held ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration as President of the United States.

The event, which took place at Greater New Hope Baptist Church, was hosted by Jim Garlow’s Well Versed World ministry and Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council.

During the meeting, Pastor Kumuyi delivered a heartfelt prayer for the American church, its leaders, and the incoming president.

“Almighty God, we thank You and bless Your name,” Kumuyi began. “What a great and glorious God You are. Lord, we come in preparation for the celebration of Donald Trump, the president tomorrow. We’re asking that You will grant him wisdom and grant the church the unity, the revival, the knowledge, the vision, the forthrightness to speak the truth to power.”

He continued by urging for holiness and righteousness in the church, praying for a meaningful connection between the church and the government. “Revive Your church, restore Your church, and purge Your church that there will be the holiness and the righteousness You expect for Your church,” Kumuyi said.

In an interview with SRN News on the eve of the inauguration, Pastor Kumuyi offered another prayer for the incoming president.

“Almighty God, You chose to bring President-Elect Donald Trump to Your throne and to lead at this time. We’re asking that Your grace will be with him through Your wisdom and power. And we pray You will help him remain focused on all the things he’s brought out in his campaign of giving Christ the recognition and honor that He deserves. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.”

During his visit to Washington, Pastor Kumuyi met with several notable figures, including Robert Pittenger, a former representative from North Carolina, and Lucas Miles, the Senior Director of Turning Point USA Faith. He also engaged with media representatives, emphasizing the importance of faith and unity in governance.

Pastor Kumuyi founded the Deeper Christian Life Ministry in 1973, starting with a small Bible study group that grew into a global movement. The ministry now averages 120,000 weekly attendees and has congregations in 120 countries.

Kumuyi is known for his biblical teaching and outreach programs, including his monthly Global Crusade with Kumuyi events, which reach millions of people. Over 730,000 individuals have reportedly committed their lives to Christ through his ministry.
