FG to support states on e-governance and digital transformation

Nigeria’s underfire Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, has caused a stir on Facebook for directing an expletive remark towards activist, Deji Adeyanju.

WuzupNigeria reported that the minister has been under scrutiny for past remarks where he was declaring support for Taliban and to al-Qaeda terrorist groups.

In a screenshot released on Adeyanju’s FB page, Pantami’s verified FB account was caught cursing in the comment section using the Hausa language.

Adeyanju appeared to have angered the minister with a copy of a complaint letter he directed to the Director-General, State Security Service, Asokoro, Abuja.

Adeyanju, who demanded Pantami’s sack in the letter, also copied the Ambassador of the United States Embassy in Nigeria as well as the High Commissioner of the United Kingdom’s High Commission in Nigeria.

In response, Pantami minister wrote in Hausa: “Allah ya tsine masa’ which translates as “May God’s curse be on him” or “God should curse his blessing.”

The minister’s FB account however put up a disclaimer later, suggesting that his “account was hacked. Just recovered it. It is not being managed by Dr Isa Pantami, but by some youth. Disregard any request, comment or message from it.”

Adeyanju has since mocked the disclaimer, adding that “Pantami is beyond shameless and unrepentant. This is a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria endorsing religious extremism calling for my death then coming back to say his account was hacked. This is someone that said he has changed.”

The exchange has however left scathing remarks and threats from followers of the minister while supporters of the activist hailed him for the move.

One commenter, Abubakar MK Gwantu, invoked the usual “touch, not God’s anointed” warning that Adeyanju “will be history” since he chose to touch “men of God, Jaki kawai.”

Prosper John-adumo said, “From the onset l knew that they’ll come for anyone that will be so involved in this issue, cos it’s a serious Islamic exposé. May God protects you with his shield of righteousness and no weapon fashion against you shall prosper Amen.”

Bashir Mujaheed opined that “all the people who are against Isa pantami are terrorist and will make sure they won’t close to power.”

Taiye Fijabi wrote: “Does this guy thinks that we are all fools like he is because if your account is hacked as the Nigerians have known your secret of how you collaborated with those killers so all you need to do is close it and open another one for how you will confess to the whole world that you’re part of those who are killing the innocent Nigerians you this wicked people.”

Dominic Isaac Bioku wrote: “This guy(Pantami) will keep sinking deep into this mess he got himself into. It will take him years to escape. I foresee the Suliemani treatment meted on Pantami. No one man or group of people has monopoly of violence.”

Isah Idris said, “Deji you go soon taya, Pantami has become your nightmare, Pantami is not your father’s mate. Stop wasting your time on someone that God has already blessed. Deji you supposed know say shoe get size, just go and enjoy the money wey you cash out from your paymasters.”
