A Palestinian farmer was wounded on Thursday after reportedly being attacked by Israeli settlers in the village of Urif, located south of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank, local sources said.
The victim, identified as Abdel Fattah Al-Safadi, suffered injuries to his head and face while working on his land when settlers assaulted him, according to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa.
The assault occurred alongside a series of Israeli military operations across the occupied West Bank. Troops conducted raids in multiple areas, including the village of Bazariya, northwest of Nablus.
In a separate development, settlers established a tent outpost on land belonging to the village of Kisan, east of Bethlehem in the southern West Bank. Israeli flags were raised near Palestinian residences, the agency reported.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces entered a refugee camp north of Hebron, where they fired live ammunition and tear gas toward homes. No injuries were reported in that incident, according to Wafa.
Witnesses also reported that Israeli military vehicles moved into Bazariya, patrolling the area without making arrests or causing casualties, Anadolu news agency said.
These incidents come amid a marked rise in violence involving settlers and Israeli forces across the occupied West Bank since October 2023. According to Palestinian officials, more than 1,150 Palestinians have been killed and thousands more injured during this period.
In July 2024, the International Court of Justice issued a landmark opinion declaring Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories illegal and calling for the removal of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
