One killed, eight injured in Pennsylvania shooting

A tragic incident unfolded at the Chevy Chase Community Center in White Township, Pennsylvania, USA as gunshots rang out during a packed party over the weekend.

The incident resulted in the death of a 22-year-old Pittsburgh man, Jamar Montae Porterfield Herriot Jr., and left eight others injured, all aged between 18 and 23.

The shooting occurred shortly before 12:35 a.m. during a private event being held at the community center.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, dozens of gunshots were fired inside the building, and they suspect multiple shooters were involved.

Partygoers fled in panic, desperately seeking safety by diving through windows and running through porch railings. The injured victims were swiftly transported to various hospitals across the state.

Among the wounded, an 18-year-old from Chicago is in critical condition, and six others remain hospitalized. Two were treated and released after receiving medical care.

The police had originally been called to the scene in response to a noise complaint. Mounted unit officers were dispatched to monitor the situation after being assured that the noise levels would be lowered.

However, gunshots were fired shortly after their arrival, causing chaos and prompting partygoers to flee in all directions.

Law enforcement officers found multiple firearms at the event space, along with shell casings and personal items like clothing and cell phones left behind by attendees.

An investigation is underway to determine who hosted the party and who rented the venue.

As of now, no suspects have been arrested, but Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to arrests and prosecution.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives has offered an additional $5,000 reward.
