Medical officials in the Gaza Strip have confirmed that one Palestinian was killed and another injured on Monday following a drone strike attributed to Israeli forces in the Bureij refugee camp.

According to health sources, the latest incident adds to the mounting casualties recorded since the escalation of hostilities began on October 7, 2023.

The total number of fatalities has now reached 72,551, while 172,274 others have sustained injuries.

A ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel took effect in October 2025 after Israeli troops withdrew from key positions and residential areas across the enclave.

The agreement also paved the way for displaced residents to begin returning to northern parts of Gaza.

The truce formed part of the initial phase of an initiative proposed by Donald Trump aimed at bringing an end to the prolonged conflict in Gaza.
