One dead, two injured in explosion at Ukraine postal sorting center

A fatal explosion at a postal sorting facility in Kyiv’s Obolon district, Ukraine, claimed the life of one person and left two others injured on Friday morning, according to the National Police.

Authorities said the blast occurred while a package was being inspected at the sorting center of a postal operator.

Preliminary findings indicate that the explosion originated from one of the parcels being examined at the facility.

A 59-year-old man died as a result of the incident, while two other individuals, aged 37 and 41, sustained injuries and received medical assistance.

Emergency responders, bomb disposal specialists, investigators, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene shortly after the explosion. Law enforcement officers have launched efforts to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Officials said the case will be examined within the framework of an ongoing investigation, with authorities pledging to keep the public informed as new information emerges.
