The lifeless body of 300-level student Miss IfeOluwa Adekunle was discovered in her room outside the Adekunle Ajasin University campus in Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State on Saturday.
The police investigation revealed that IfeOluwa was attacked by yet-to-be-identified assailant(s).
A concerned neighbor, who chose to remain anonymous, pleaded for justice and called on the Ondo State government to intervene.
The neighbor stated, “We found her in the pool of her blood in her room. She was stabbed to death by yet-to-be-identified persons who came visiting. We know this is not a cult-related issue as some people are propagating.”
“We have reported the murder case to the police, but it seems they are slow in responding to our demands in identifying and tracking those behind this dastardly act. We are imploring the Ondo State Government to please look into the matter and ensure that the deceased gets justice.”
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of Ondo State Police Command, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, stated that the investigation has commenced.
She acknowledged the possibility that the killing could be cult-related, but emphasized that the police were actively looking into all angles of the case.
“The remains of IfeOluwa had since been taken to the mortuary,” Odunlami-Omisanya added.
