Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, are facing elimination from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after suffering a 62-87 defeat to France in their second Group B game.

WuzupNigeria reported that D’Tigress lost 81-72, a narrow nine-point margin, to the United States women’s basketball team in their opening match on Tuesday at the Saitama Super Arena, Japan.

Again, the Nigerians lost the second match on Thursday morning by 25 points to France which appeared to be the better team.

The match statistics indicated that D’Tigress had a shooting accuracy of 35%, while France had 50%.

The Nigerian ladies can still qualify for the quarter-finals but they would have to win their final group game against the host nation, Japan, provided other results end in their favour.
