Olatunji Disu appointed new Rivers CP

Published

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has appointed seasoned police officer, CP Olatunji Disu, as the new Commissioner of Police for Rivers State Command. This comes in light of the recent protests demanding the redeployment of the former CP, Nwonyi Emeka.

In a signal dispatched on Wednesday evening, the IGP also announced the appointment of seven other CPs to lead different commands across Nigeria. These appointments are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security, tackle violent crimes, and enhance coordination of policing operations nationwide.

The newly appointed CPs include CP George Chuku for BNS Command, CP Ahmed Tijani for Jigawa Command, CP Dan Shawulu for Niger Command, CP Usman Hayatu for GBS Command, CP Danjuma Aboki for IMS Command, CP Isyaku Muhammed for OSS Command, and others.

The IGP urged the new CPs to demonstrate their professional competence and leadership skills in their respective commands. He expressed confidence in their ability to bring a fresh perspective and effectively address the security challenges in their areas of responsibility.

CP Disu’s appointment comes just seven months after he was promoted from Deputy Commissioner of Police  to Commissioner of Police.

His previous assignments include leading the Nigeria Police Contingent to the African Union Peace Keeping Mission in Dafur, Sudan, and serving as Deputy Head of the State Criminal Investigation Department for Rivers Command.
