Nollywood actor Charles Okocha has rejected allegations that he bit singer Portable during their recent celebrity boxing rematch in Lagos.
During an appearance on TVC Entertainment on Tuesday, Okocha addressed the controversy, insisting that he could not have bitten Portable because he wore a mouth guard throughout the fight.
Portable had accused the actor of biting him on the back and holding his neck during the contest. He claimed the alleged actions contributed to the disorder that eventually ended the match.
However, Okocha dismissed the accusation as another excuse from the singer following his defeat.
“Portable has been going around telling people I bit him on the back,” he said. “I was wearing a mouth guard; how is that even possible? He was just lying.”
Okocha denies biting Portable
Okocha maintained that he had no reason to bite Portable and mocked the singer while responding to the allegation.
“I would rather chew grass than bite him. I don’t want to catch rabies,” the actor said.
He also made disparaging remarks about Portable’s skin before urging him to accept the outcome of the fight.
Okocha said the singer should stop offering explanations for the defeat and acknowledge that officials declared him the winner.
The actor’s response has added another chapter to the rivalry between both entertainers, who have repeatedly exchanged accusations since their first boxing encounter.
Portable disqualified after chaotic rematch
Okocha and Portable met at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos on Friday for a rematch of their 2023 celebrity boxing contest.
The fight quickly descended into confusion as both men grappled, held each other and exchanged punches while the referee struggled to restore order.
Portable eventually left the ring before officials had formally ended the contest. Although he later returned, he was disqualified for abandoning the match.
Officials subsequently declared Okocha the winner, giving the actor revenge for his defeat in their previous meeting.
Portable protested the decision and accused his opponent of using illegal tactics. He claimed Okocha locked his neck and bit him during the struggle.
The singer later displayed what he described as marks from the alleged bite, but Okocha has maintained that the accusation is false.
Rivalry began with 2023 fight
Portable defeated Okocha during their first celebrity boxing match at Landmark Beach in Victoria Island, Lagos, in December 2023.
Okocha disputed that result and repeatedly demanded another opportunity to face the singer.
The rematch was promoted as a chance for both entertainers to settle their long-running disagreement. However, its chaotic ending created another dispute rather than providing a decisive sporting conclusion.
Portable also recently lost a celebrity boxing match to content creator Carter Efe.
Following that defeat, the singer alleged that his opponent had unfairly held his neck with his longer arms.
He also demanded ₦200m from the organisers and said his wife had been in labour while he participated in the fight.
Okocha has now urged Portable to stop making excuses and accept the official result of their latest encounter.
