Published

A political activist and Mandela Washington fellow, Kunle Ajayi, has said that an Oyo State governorship hopeful, Ojo Olayinka, is a man of integrity and can be trusted with the mandate of the people.

Ajayi said that Ojo’s leadership skills and particularly his ability to work with and through people to achieve common objectives is enviable.

Ajayi in a Twitter thread narrated few instances where Ojo had displayed exceptional leadership capabilities and reminisced on their good old days.

Ajayi also said Ojo, currently the youngest gubernatorial candidate in the state, as a burning passion for good governance and the upliftment of the downtrodden.

Recall that WuzupNaija had reported that 37-year-old Ojo emerged the gubernatorial candidate of the Mega Party of Nigeria in Oyo state.

He was declared a consensus candidate during the party primary held at the party Secretariat in Ibadan on Sunday.

“I met @yinkaojo_muse in March 2007 at Tsafe in Zamfara State. We were newly posted Corp Members to Zamfara State and we happen to share the same room during the NYSC Orientation. Did I say room? I wanted to say Classrooms because we converted classrooms to rooms.

“We both arrived at the Orientation Camp same morning but he arrived after me due to some language barrier issues with the driver. The driver drove past the camp gate and got to the state capital after my friend @yinkaojo_muse got down from the vehicle, he asked where is Tsafe.

“He was told that he passed Tsafe some 45 minutes ago. He and other intending Corp Members had to get another vehicle to bring them back to Tsafe. We ended up on the same queue to get our clearance done and also secured the same classroom as our room.

“More than 40 of us slept on mats and over-used mattresses that were just like mats. @yinkaojo_muse leadership trait was about to be unleashed!! He would supervise the sleeping arrangement of over 50 Corp Members as the competition for sleeping space was tough.

“If you think supervising sleeping arrangement was tough, wait till its morning and guys don’t want to sweep the room and keep it tidy. @yinkaojo_muse would use his persuasion skills to get everyone to work to keep the room clean. He would ensure we swept the balcony too.

“In no time, he became a respected voice in the room and people would voluntarily work with him to ensure the room is clean and this had a ripple effect on the other rooms on the block. @yinkaojo_muse wasn’t done just yet!!!

“I remember nights of serious confrontations in the room on issues ranging from “Whose school was the best, Which state had the best orientation camp etc” and room mates would push each other and ready to throw punches. @yinkaojo_muse was always around to resolve issues.

“He had good oratory skills especially in Yoruba and in no time he was already anchoring programs on Otondo Broadcasting Service (OBS). I was on one of his programs and it was a good experience sharing my school and life experience with other Corp Members.

“I was attracted to his leadership skills and particularly his ability to work with and through people to achieve common objectives. We both had “9” at the end of our call up numbers and eventually placed in the same Platoon. “Platoon 9”

“We walked side by side during the “Endurance Trek” and I remember we had great intellectual discussion on that day about leadership, governance & family. We became real friends at the end of that journey. It was the beginning of the Journey of our Friendship.

“12. We have remained best of friends ever since. @yinkaojo_muse passion for good governance and the upliftment of the downtrodden is commendable. I have believe in his capacity to lead Oyo State to a greater heights.

“Classroom as our room? Yes! We used a sec school as our temporary orientation camp as the permanent orientation camp was under construction. The classrooms were without windows and there was just 6 bunks for the population of about 52 Corp Members.

“@yinkaojo_muse He is a Man of Integrity and can be trusted with the Mandate of the Good People of Oyo State.
