Ogun State Police command has arrested a notorious kidnap suspect, Wasiu Oloyede, while he was pretending to be a soldier in the Odo Pako area of Ota.

Oloyede is said to be the mastermind behind the recent kidnapping of a serving soldier in Alagbado, Lagos. During the abduction, the soldier was stripped of his military uniform, identity card, ATM cards, and phone.

The soldier later escaped, but Oloyede allegedly started wearing the stolen uniform to disguise himself as a military officer.

Police said Oloyede was caught when he tried to trick a local vigilante by appearing in the uniform and attempting to seize the vigilante’s dane gun.

The vigilant security man raised an alarm which led to Oloyede’s arrest by the police.

Ogun police spokesperson confirmed that investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the kidnapping group. Oloyede remains in police custody.
