The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ekiti Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ade Ajayi, on Thursday described the cases of robbery and kidnapping being witnessed in parts of the country as general.

Ajayi said this in a statement in Ado-Ekiti while reacting to the Ekiti Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusation describing Gov. Kayode Fayemi as a failure owing to the recent cases of robbery and kidnapping in the state.

The APC scribe said that the occasional cases of abduction by bandits in Ekiti did not portray Gov. Fayemi’s administration as a failure or doing nothing to address the situation.

“The APC government in Ekiti is doing well to ensuring that Ekiti is safe and that was why the government joined the South West states to establish the “Amotekun” corps.

“In case the PDP is not aware, the recruitment into the South West Security Network, also known as “Amotekun” corps, is ongoing.

“Amotekun” will work in collaboration with the police by the time they will be deployed across the state to secure our people.

“Let me remind the PDP that apart from mis-governance of Ayo Fayose-led government, insecurity also chased away investors from Ekiti during the time, but this is not happening under Fayemi,” he said.

Newsmen recall that on Sept. 11, the opposition PDP in Ekiti, through it Publicity Secretary, Mr. Raphael Adeyanju, had expressed concern over the recent upsurge in killings and kidnappings in the state.

It also called on Gov. Fayemi to show more interest in the issue of security in the state.
