NYSC member test coronavirus positive in Ondo
The Ondo State Government has affirmed that a National Youth Service Corps [NYSC] member has tested positive for the coronavirus pandemic.
Confirming the case of the serving NYSC member, Donald Ojogo, the information and Orientation commissioner in a statement noted that the new confirmed case in Ondo State is a Medical doctor, a serving corp member.
He said:
“The third positive case in Ondo State is a Medical Doctor; he is a Youth Corps member attached to the Army Clinic at the Barracks and had attended to the first index case while he was under observation.” Vanguard report Ojogo saying.
The report comes some hours after the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control [NCDC] confirmed that 20 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) have been recorded in Nigeria.
The 20 new confirmed cases were in Lagos, Kano, Edo, Ogun and Ondo States, bringing the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ondo State to three, while in Nigeria to 343, as of 9:50 pm on Monday.
The Ondo State Governor, Romiti Akeredolu in a tweet on his microblogging site account on Monday revealed that the new case is a close contact of one of the State’s index cases.
He tweeted:
“The @NCDCgov just confirmed another case of #Covid_19 in Ondo State. The reported case is a close contact of the index case who was also put in isolation but was tested once they began to display symptoms.
“The new case brings the total number of confirmed cases in Ondo State to 3.”
Meanwhile, Human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), in 2019 election, Omoyele Sowore has described Buhari’s administration as the “virus destroying the country”.
