Nollywood actors receive ‘peanut’ but dress up like peacocks on red carpet – Gideon Okeke

Published

Actor, model and TV Presenter, Gideon Okeke, On Tuesday lamented that Nollywood actors receive ‘peanut’ for movie roles despite all the hard work they put in.

His protest comes after actress and model, Adunni Ade stated in an interview on Rubbin Minds that filmmakers need to stop asking talents to work and still pay them peanuts.

According to Okeke, the hardship isn’t visible to people because the affected actors and actresses always look ‘breathtaking’ and dressed up looking like peacocks every time they appear at movie premieres.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, he said; “The pay is peanuts, the food is whack, the working conditions are gruesomely slave-like. But come the day of the Red carpet premier… We all dress up looking like a bag of money. E no add up joor!

“Award season is coming again. You will see all of us looking like peacocks on the red carpet. Like a bag of money. Don’t envy anyone o. Na packaging. Na wash.

“Because filmmaking is a collaborative sport, until it’s time to share money. Ain’t we in a pandemic of greed. Abeg make I go brush teeth. My mouth dey smell.”

Meanwhile, upon seeing Adunni’s recent apology, he implored the mother of two to quit apologizing for something that is also affecting her.

“SIS….STOP APOLOGIZING!!! If the hands that feed you are also choking you outta breath, pls SHOUT! It’s like saying “NO” to the attempts of a rapist!!!!”
